Meet Reese Cruz (Northern Colorado, Mu Tau, '22)! He shared his PIKE story with us in honor of #PrideMonth: ⁠

"Growing up, I never felt like I could truly express who I was as a person. When going through middle school and high school, it was hard to make friends with guys, I was missing the idea of brotherhood. When I enrolled in college, I was able to express more of my natural personality and learned a valuable lesson that 'judgment towards you is only what they see on the outside, not what you believe towards yourself inside.' I wanted to meet more people but didn’t really know where to begin. I tried student organizations within my major, and nothing gave me the companionship I needed. That wasn’t until I found PIKE, which gave me the outlet to be myself and showed me the ways of brotherhood, making me feel like a man. ⁠

When I decided to rush, and walked into PIKE for the first time, I knew it was a group of brothers that would accept me for who I am, fill in the missing brotherhood I’ve wanted to have and now I have amazing memories that I will cherish forever.⁠

PIKE gave me treasured memories and opportunities that I felt were absent in my early years. I finally had credence in brotherhood, something I never thought would happen in my life. Hanging out, having dinner together, playing games, and enjoying each other’s company, this is what I wanted to have, and PIKE was healing old experiences that I thought would forever haunt my mind. I can now say I am a part of the Mu Tau Executive Board as Secretary, becoming more of a leader in my life and that was with the help of PIKE. I know I have an arsenal of allies and brothers who will always be in support of me, no matter where I am."⁠
