According to apnews, E. coli food poisoning linked to McDonald’s Quarter Pounder hamburgers has sickened at least 49 people in 10 states. This outbreak resulted in one person dead and 10 others hospitalized, per federal health officials.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports uncovered an older person in Colorado passed away, and one child has been hospitalized with severe kidney complications. Infections were reported between Sept. 27 and Oct. 11 in Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Oregon, Utah, Wisconsin, and Wyoming. Reports state Colorado has 27 cases, followed by Nebraska with nine.

The CDC said everyone interviewed about the outbreak reported eating at McDonald’s before falling ill. Also, most people mentioned eating Quarter Pounder hamburgers.
