The Lancers fell to the Olathe East Hawks 35-28 at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct 18 at the SM North stadium on senior night. 

Prior to kick off, at 6:30 p.m., 21 seniors were recognized for senior night: Carter Rose, Nick Crutchfield, Nate Phillips, Jonas Pastine, Henry Nelson, Brooks Moore, Brady Haughton, Bo Morrissey, Luke Bartalos, Charlie Johnson, Gavin Baird, Mason Schnurr, Joe Musick, Aiden Armstrong, Anderson Wood, Sam Rayfield, Kyler Schuessler, Grayson Fix, Pierson Hardy, Chris Beikmann and Calvin Duske. All of the seniors were escorted by members of their family and stood in front of the crowd to be recognized.

After the senior recognitions, the game kicked off at 7 p.m. and by the end of the first quarter the Lancers were trailing the Hawks 14-7. This score remained until halftime. During halftime, the Marching Band performed alongside the Lancer Dancers. At the end of the third quarter, the Lancers still trailed the Hawks 14-7 remaining scoreless for 25 minutes. During the fourth quarter, Beikmann scored a receiving touchdown, tying the game at 14-14. At the end of the fourth quarter, the score was 14-14, pushing the game into overtime. The first overtime remained tied but during the second overtime, junior Jack Reeves scored a rushing touchdown followed by a successful field goal, followed by another touchdown from the Olathe East Hawks, tying the game again at 21-21. Three minutes later, Beikmann scored an additional touchdown followed by a successful field goal, putting the Lancers in the lead at 28-21. With a total of four overtimes that extended the game by 32 minutes, the Lancers fell 35-28. The Lancers now sit at a 4-4 record.
After the game, the Marching Band performed “Bloom,” their show for this year, alongside the Lancer Dancers. This was the annual “Glow Show,” and the band members and dancers wore LED lights while all of the stadium lighting was turned off.

The varsity football team’s next game will be on Friday, Oct. 25th against Olathe South at the Olathe District Athletic Center.
