When I met the women I talk about in my latest story ‘The Women You Should Meet in Maine’s MidCoast’ [link in profile], they all seemed to already have this under control. This knowledge that they had everything they needed in them and they could do anything they set their mind to. Powerful women. Inspiring women. Funny women. Talented women. Beautiful women whose beauty began inside and was merely  complimented by what was outside not determined by it.

I felt unworthy to even be trying to tell their stories because I myself still struggle with the exact thing Rupi describes every day. After 4 decades on this planet. So for #iwd2020 #internationalwomensday I was so excited that @glpfilms wanted me to publish this story from our project in @mainesmidcoast. I feel if we haven’t already fully grasped all we have within us and all we are capable of, one of the best things we can do is lift up and celebrate the women who have and who we want to be more like. Not only might it help us through osmosis but far more importantly it spends our energy not on self doubt and fear but on celebration 🎉 And the world needs a heck of a lot more celebrating of women. So please today take the time to read my piece, take note of these women, and if you find yourself in Maine, support them by supporting their businesses. But wherever you are today and whatever you’re doing, please take the time to support and lift up women everywhere. (And in the future, let me know how we can partner together to help lift up and share the stories of an even more diverse group of women.
