Geneva is #BetterTogether

And while that’s a marketing hashtag from Geneva Tourism, it’s also the truth. I couldn’t have asked for a happier assignment as my last of the year than to explore Geneva with three people I love to bits. Monica and I met while living in NYC years ago, Marco I have followed on Instagram pretty much since he started an account and Neil and I are new friends but the newness doesn’t equate to the depth. We formed a little foursome during the Viking Cruise we all went on back in September and since then, through the good as well as the bad (there’s been a lot of up and down in all our lives since then) — we’ve continued talking regularly on WhatsApp and we couldn’t wait to reunite.

So when Geneva Tourism asked me to bring a few friends to visit, I didn’t hesitate in making a list that included these three and a hashtag became a real life theme of four nights coming and going from @fsgeneva, experiencing how to make knives, fondue and watches as well as how to celebrate a centuries old victory over conquerors and eating one dish after another of delectable cuisine.

This was my first time ever properly visiting Switzerland (I’d only driven through a corner of it on the way to Austria before, not stopping) and now there’s no way I’d want to do it except with friends like these. Who didn’t even bat an eye when I asked them to share breakfast in bed with me in my suite one morning. We actually did do it, we didn’t just pose for this photo. We also laugh together, we cry together, we remind each other not to take anything too seriously and we prop each other up when life just is too serious.
