Salzburg was the most lovely end to my #AustrianTime in @visitaustria. As I explained in my first post about my trip to Austria, having grown up in Vermont knowing the von Trapp family, I'd always wanted to go to Salzburg to see some of the 'Sound of Music' sights. It was so fun to finally be able to do that and to hum a few of the tunes from the movie. Yet that was not even the best part of exploring the city. I found that all on its own, completely separate from that story -- the city is such a delightful urban destination. It's just small enough to be able to experience a lot of it in just two nights. Yet it's also big enough to have so much to offer, that I will need to return one day to finish my list! I particularly enjoyed attending a performance of Mozart in the Marble Hall at Mirabell Palace, cooling off at Hellbrunn during the Trick Fountains tour, biking along the river on the dedicated bike lanes and out to Hellbrunn as well as the taste of traditional Austrian food. The people in the city were very kind and welcoming.
