I could not find the precise geotag for this image but it is a staircase in the UNESCO city of Valparaíso, Cerro Concepcion. It is called "Pasaje Bavestrello." 🇨🇱 Valpo was my last stop in the country before leaving and I'm so glad I was able to visit. According to our guide from @upscapetravel, Rodrigo, this particular staircase is significant because it represents two groups of artists coming together to decorate one public space in partnership, in harmony. In fact it's only one of probably thousands of places in the city that is decorated thusly. Unlike other cities around the world that have a lot of street art but do still restrict artists in some way, in Valparaíso, even private home owners hire mural and street artists to beautify the facades of their homes with elaborate depictions of history, culture, beauty or even political statements. According to my research, the city promotes what goes on as long as it is of, "a creative nature." However, the practice did start as a form of protest, as a reaction to the regime of Augusto Pinochet in the 1970's. Now, official competitions are even held to promote public art and those who create it. Artists whose work you can find currently in Valparaíso include: Stinkfish, La Robot de Madera, Teo Doro, Martin Ron, Dasic. (Know of more? Tell me!) || If my searching is correct, the piece of art down at the bottom of the stairs that seems to show a woman with a yellow face and blue hair is attributed to Zana + UKD + Al. || 🎨#OnlyInSouthAmerica
