It's funny how some physically beautiful places don't photograph as well as others. Moments are similar. Sometimes the most beautiful experiences; whether shared or solo, will always be better merely in one's memory vs what they might be like in even expertly produced photos or video. When that happens, I often think of Sean O'Connell's speech in 'The Secret Life of Walter Mitty,' when after seeing the elusive Snow Leopard, he says to Walter that sometimes he doesn't take a photo, he just stays in the moment without the distraction of the camera. I'm often torn between these two possibilities, to capture or not to. In this moment that was more true than it has been in a long time. We'd biked 20 kilometers from @altoatacama across the Salar de Atacama and arrived at Laguna Tebenquinche where the sun was beginning to set behind us, coloring the Andes, the lake and the salt-covered landscape. The colors were changing so rapidly that even between clicks of my camera's shutter there was a difference in the scene. After I created this image with my iPhone, I did stop. I just enjoyed the last light, with my colleagues, a glass of wine in hand, and the feeling of profound gratefulness in my heart. #OnlyInSouthAmerica
