Senior Constable Siying Wang has always been attracted to physical and mental challenges. It’s probably why she’s a police prosecutor in the Melbourne Prosecutions Unit... and a part-time Light Calvary Trooper in the Army Reserve (amazing, we know). ⁣
⁣
Seven years ago, Siying gave her childhood dream a ‘red hot go’ and joined Victoria Police. Since, she’s served her community as a police officer in the Casey and Whitehorse areas before moving to prosecutions. ⁣
⁣
And in the Army? It was four years ago that she became a proficient trooper. Now, she drives light armoured vehicles like the Bushmaster and G-Wagon to expand the capability of her unit - 4/19 Prince of Wales Light Horse.⁣
⁣
What Siying achieves (amongst being a mum) is nothing short of inspiring, but why both roles? “In my view, these two roles do complement each other well in the sense that, throughout the years Army has made me a tougher person both physically and mentally. And whenever I am going through a rough patch working my police job, I am able to draw my experience from the Army, and tell myself that ‘this too, shall pass’.”⁣
 ⁣
With the support of her colleagues and supervisors at Victoria Police, she’s able to fulfill her duties for both community and country. ⁣
⁣
It goes without saying, Victoria Police hosts a diverse workforce. Our members, despite fronting what is already a challenging career, somehow in their spare moments continue to achieve great things.⁣
