ALWAYS KEEP THIS CLOSE: Nine of the qualifying members from McCallum choir program attended a two-day region clinic for TMEA that started on Friday and ended with a concert on Saturday.

The Region 18 tenor-bass choir and treble choir performed three songs each and combined to make the mixed choir that performed four songs. According to junior Lexi Niles Arguello, who performed as an Alto 1 in the treble and mixed choirs, spending time with people in the choir program was her favorite part of the weekend experience.

“I really enjoyed eating lunch with my choir friends from different classes,” Arguello said. “I was able to talk and get to know them better.”

Arguello also liked how friendly everyone in the choir was and the music they performed. Her favorite song this year was performed by the treble choir.

“My favorite song is ‘Always Keep This Close,’” Arguello said. “I think I like the songs better than last year because I don’t remember any of last year’s songs.”

Arguello believes that TMEA is a good experience for future auditions and hopes to get as far as she can in the process.

“I loved the region concert so much,” Arguello said. “I hope to make it to state for the first time and get more experience for next year.”
