To account for state funding cuts in the upcoming academic year and potentially beyond, campus temporarily halted hiring new lecturers for the 2025-26 academic year, according to an email sent to campus department chairs by executive vice chancellor and provost, Benjamin Hermalin.

Campus spokesperson Dan Mogulof noted that no final decisions have been made regarding budget cuts for the next fiscal year.

He added that campus budgetary planning considers income received from various sources, including student tuition and fees, research funding, sales and services, philanthropy and endowments. Campus expects growth of the total income to increase at a rate that is less than inflation, creating a gap that campus will need to address, according to Mogulof.
