Duck Summer Jobs: Jade Ishimine 🦆💼

Jade interned at Zippy’s, a popular restaurant chain in Hawai’i and Vegas, as a social media and communications intern over the summer. During her 10 weeks with the company, she assisted in managing Zippy’s social media presence, influencer relations, and content strategy. “At the end of my internship, I presented a capstone project where I recommended new content strategies for Zippy’s Las Vegas target market,” Jade said.

“My career goal has always been to return to my home state and work for a Hawai’i-based company that aligns with my personal values — and Zippy’s is exactly that. I am a genuine fan of Zippy’s, as is many others who have grown up here in the islands. When the opportunity to intern in their marketing department came up, it felt like the perfect alignment with my career aspirations."

Jade’s advice to other students seeking similar opportunities is to “make the most of the great resources available to you as a student! There are a variety of career services available to UO students such as resume help, interview prep, and internship search support – all of which I have benefitted from! Leverage your position as a student to network and seek out opportunities such as informational interviews. Do your research on the companies and specific roles you are looking for to make sure they are a good fit for your career goals.”
