Today, eight years ago, Rutgers alumna Ella Watson-Stryker was recognized for her work with the emergency team of Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières in West Africa on the @time magazine cover 📖🏥

As a health educator and advocate, Watson-Stryker, a 2002 Rutgers honors graduate, worked 12-hour days seven days a week, initially in Guinea at the outbreak's heart and subsequently in Sierra Leone and Liberia. She and other MSF employees extended support to the locals, alleviated their concerns about medical personnel, supported ill children, and comforted their families in their time of need.

The people were highlighted in the publication as examples of the physicians, nurses, and emergency personnel who risked their lives to rescue others and help stop the Ebola outbreak in West Africa, where more than 6,000 people died from the disease in 2014.
