Ever wonder why your brain thinks flowers smell wonderful but thinks trash smells like...trash? Our brains are remarkably complex but neurobiologist Cornelia Bargmann's research found surprising similarities between human brains and the brains of worms! She believed "when we learned how to understand the worm's brain" that we would be in a much better position to understand the complex functions of the human brain. Bargmann's research suggests that round worms also have a sensitive sense of smell which is wired to individual neurons and is genetically preprogrammed.
