#Tadpoles and #frogs look nothing alike, but tadpoles are either frogs or #toads in the #larval stage. To grow into a frog (or a toad), a tadpole must develop forelimbs, hind limbs, and functioning #lungs; lose their #tails and gills; and shorten their #intestines. This process can take between two weeks and three years, during which tadpoles often face a formidable variety of predators. Tadpoles themselves are typically #vegetarian.
