We are kicking off #FirstGenWeek with a #MoodySpotlight on Mikayla Ojeda! Mikayla is a first-gen Longhorn studying advertising!
 
“I chose advertising because of my interest in business strategy. This major allows me to apply my strategic and creative thinking skills to different projects. I enjoy contributing to campaign strategies, performing market research and drawing data-driven conclusions.”
 
Mikayla loves #TEXASMoody because she’s connected with many of her peers in different majors and faculty members. “I am constantly inspired by my classmates and the exciting projects or internships they are completing. Moody has also provided great networking opportunities that have helped me build meaningful connections and advanced my professional career. I am happy to call Moody my home on campus!”
 
Some of her favorite classes at Moody College have been Sports and Social Media and the ICC Capstone class with Professor James Dalthorp. “He has taught me the importance of social media in this digital age and how vital it is to communicate with our audience effectively.”
 
Mikayla has worked as an influencer marketing partnerships intern at Markerly, a partner coordinator intern at Zupp, and is currently a NARS cosmetics ambassador on campus. She is also a member of Texas Advertising Group, Texas Darlins, and Texas ALPFA.
