Do you know the difference between a #spine, a #prickle, and a #thorn? (Did you know there was a difference?) #Botanists use these terms to refer to very specific structures. Spines are made from #leaves; prickles are made directly from the #plant’s outermost layer, the #epidermis; and thorns are modified shoots, so they can be branched, or even bear leaves.
