The City Engineer serves as the Stormwater Utility Director, and is an essential role leading infrastructure recovery, assessment, repair or replacement after storms. The City Engineer oversees 7 employees including stormwater engineers, bicycle and pedestrian safety coordinator, and community rating system (CRS) coordinator, and permits, manages and oversees stormwater engineering, roadway design, beach restoration, park design & more!

🔵 Starting annual salary between $106,744 to $179,129
🔵 Office location half-mile from the beach 
🔵 Florida Retirement System, medical, dental, vision and life insurance, & wellness resources 
🔵 Aplicants should hold a bachelors or masters degree in Civil, Environmental or Geotechnical engineering; 7 to 5 years related experience, including 3 years of supervisory; be a registered Florida Professional Engineer (PE) or a reciprocal state license, with ability to FL certify within 90 days of hire; Certified Floodplain Manager with beach renourishment and coastal systems experience, and have familiarity with Community Rating System (CRS) and FEMA regulations. 

Critical projects the City Engineer position has overseen in the last 10 years include the Venice Beach renourishment project, Venice Fishing Pier refurbishment, downtown roadway, sidewalk and median redesign and beautification, Legacy Park and Maxine Barritt Park design and construction and more.
