As a Sport Club Supervisor, junior Kenyon Amott has found her niche with Rec Sports.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
"My involvement with Rec Sports has definitely made the past three years of college so much better. I look forward to going to work every single day and having those interactions with everyone. It has also opened my eyes to all the different things the professionals do. There is so much going on behind the scenes that a lot of people don’t even recognize, so it has been really cool to see all of the working parts there are to make a program not only run but to be so successful.”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As Women’s Club Water Polo President, Amott’s responsibilities consist of informing the team of the swim set, facilitating scrimmages, and teaching the new members how to play. As many players join not knowing how to play the sport, Amott guides them through all of the motions.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“I really love helping them, and it is so cool when they put it all together and figure out how they’re supposed to be treading and how it relates to when you shoot and how everything works together. Shooting your first goal is such an exciting moment, and it’s really fulfilling getting to see them experience that for the first time.”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Amott has learned a lot through holding her job title and officer role on top of her school commitments.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“Having to balance everything has been a really important and beneficial lesson in time management and figuring out the best way to make everything work that you want to do. It’s all totally doable and possible, it just takes a little bit of time to figure that out for yourself. Having those things to look forward to helps me stay focused during the day.”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Speaking on the Hokie Movement, Amos recognizes its cohesive nature.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“Everybody on this campus can play a role in [the Hokie Movement]; we’re all so different in what we do and what we’re interested in, but we can all still come together and be a part of something greater than a single program.”
