Thank you from the little girl who decided to attend an HBCU this year. Thank you from the son of immigrants who decided to be a public servant this year. Thank you from the blended families, the women who achieved so much but may not have children, and the people who have to fight the hardest battles of their lives without their mothers.

We, too, are America.

All election season, with every “concept of a plan”, every message of hate, we thought about those words  Papa Pope said as a scandal was unfolding in Washington, “ You have to be twice as good to get half as much”. But you showed up— with grace, intelligence, experience and effort, because like Olivia Pope said, “If it doesn’t work, it doesn’t work. But you have to try, because if you try, if you leap and you try, and it doesn’t work out, it’s not on you.”
