On the evening of Sunday, Nov. 10, campus was bright with energy and gratitude in honor of Diwali-Tihar, the vibrant and colorful Festival of Lights celebrating the victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance.🪔✨

#Diwali is one of the most significant festivals in Hindu culture, and is also recognized by Jains, Sikhs, and some Buddhists. Known as #Tihar in Nepal, the five-day festival is a time of joy, reflection, and community, marked by the lighting of lamps, fireworks, and the sharing of sweets and gifts.

At Marist, in addition celebrating Diwali-Tihar in the Cabaret with traditional food, arts, music, and dancing, International Student Services hosted a workshop for making rangolis and painting diyas, henna night, and a special teaching kitchen experience with Marist_Eats where students learned to make samosas from scratch.

Overall, these have been amazing opportunities to appreciate the rich cultural diversity that makes up our community!
