Tim Weah is back with the USMNT for the first time since getting sent off in the Copa América this summer.

He’s having a great season so far with four goals and one assist for Juventus— including scoring against Inter Milan in the Derby d’Italia and city rivals Torino in the Derby della Mole.

These upcoming USMNT games will feel extra special for Weah. He is best known for his connections with Liberia due to his famous father George Weah, but he also has connections to Jamaica as his mother is from there.

He recently spoke about scoring a special goal against Jamaica in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers in Jamaica.

“Sentimentally, it was a special goal against my mother’s country and my country as well,” Weah told The Athletic.

“My whole childhood was spent in Laurelton and Rosedale in Queens, predominantly a Jamaican community.”

“I went to a Caribbean school in New York. So growing up, I always felt like a full Jamaican, a full Yardie.”

“Getting that experience of playing in Kingston against Jamaica was, you know.. there was a lot of pride involved.”

“I knew I was not only playing for my country but also against my country, which was a beautful feeling.”

It will be exciting for him to return to Kingston, Jamaica on Thursday as the USMNT play there. 

Unlike the last time, where they were forced to play in an empty stadium, many Jamaican fans are expected to show up this week. 🇺🇸🇯🇲
