Space meets art in one of NASA astronaut Don Pettit’s “Science of Opportunity” experiments aboard the International Space Station (ISS).⁣
 ⁣
For this specific experiment, Pettit grew thin wafers of water ice using the orbiting lab’s freezer and photographed them with a polarizing filter in front of a blank computer screen — showing off the colorful fragments of ice crystals seen here.⁣
