## Caption

In his proposal, Cain Diaz, budget analysis and planning associate vice president for the UC Office of the President, compared the university’s out-of-state tuition to other public university systems such as those in Virginia and Michigan, noting that the entire cost of attendance is more than $5,000 lower for those attending a UC school. Similarly, he said UC students graduate with less debt on average. 

The regents also reviewed their “Path to Debt-Free UC” plan, discussing changes to federal financial aid regulations and delays in processing records in 2024-25. 

For the first time in 40 years, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid was revised, and the form was released later than previous years. Campuses also only received the form’s data months after it was submitted, instead of a few days after.
