Serve your guest this umami-packed Green Bean Casserole this year 🤤

Ditch the cans and enjoy this easy side dish featuring fresh green beans and a homemade miso mushroom cream sauce. It’s guaranteed to have your guest coming back for seconds.✨

📝 Ingredients — yields: 8 servings

* 2 lbs green beans
* 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
* 1 lb crimini brown mushrooms or mushroom blend
* ¼ teaspoon black pepper
* ½ teaspoon salt
* 8 garlic cloves minced
* 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
* 1 ½ cup  chicken broth
* ½ cup heavy cream
* 2 teaspoon soy sauce
* 2 teaspoon white miso paste

👩🏻‍🍳 Instructions

1. Boil the green beans for 5 minutes until just tender. Then drain and place them in an ice bath to stop them from cooking. Drain, pat dry and set aside.

Mushroom Sauce

2. In a large skillet over medium high heat, melt the butter. Then add the mushrooms, salt and pepper and cook for 3-5 minutes until the moisture is released. Then add the garlic and saute until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes.

3. Lower the heat to medium, add the flour and toss to combine until the mushrooms are fully coated.

4. Add broth, soy sauce, miso and heavy cream. Cook until the sauce thickens about 5-6 minutes.

Assemble

5. Preheat your oven to 350°F (176°C).

6. Toss green beans with the sauce until evenly coated. Transfer to a casserole dish.

7. Top with the crispy fried shallots.

8. Loosely cover with a sheet of foil and bake for 15-20 minutes until bubbling on the edges. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 8-10 minutes until the shallots are golden brown. Serve warm and enjoy!
