‼️ Sports Business Symposium Speaker Highlight: Tim Hinchey III - Former President & CEO at USA Swimming

Tim Hinchey, III, served as the President and CEO of USA Swimming and the USA Swimming Foundation from 2017-2024. Hinchey, a former swimmer at UC Irvine, took the helm at USA Swimming after a stint as President of the Colorado Rapids, earning 2016 MLS Executive of the Year. He also became CEO of the USA Swimming Foundation in August 2019. Tim was also an executive with English soccer club Derby County, in addition to working for NBA and NHL teams.

During his tenure, the national governing body found commercial success, hosting its Olympic swimming trials in an NFL stadium for the first time earlier this year. It twice set a world record for attendance, with more than 22,000. USA Swimming brought in new sponsors during Hinchey's tenure, including Eli Lilly, and reformed its SafeSport program. “Tim’s innovative vision to conduct the Olympic Trials in a football stadium was a bold and groundbreaking move that brought the sport to a broader audience, creating unforgettable experiences for swimmers, coaches, officials, and spectators alike,” board chair Chris Brearton said in the release. “This initiative highlighted his ability to think beyond conventional boundaries and his commitment to making swimming accessible and exciting for all.”

USA Swimming is the national governing body (NGB) of swimming in the United States and is responsible for serving nearly 400,000 members nationwide, from club swimmers to Olympic champions. The USA Swimming Foundation is the sport's philanthropic arm with the mission to Save Lives, Build Champions, and Impact Communities. In seven years at his post, Hinchey has ushered in new safeguards for athlete protection, enhanced coach education, designed a best-in-class technology transformation, and renewed focus on member benefits and opportunities.
