In a closely contested race, Ishii edged out her opponent, Sophie Hahn, and received 51% of the ranked-choice vote, as called by The San Francisco Chronicle. Ishii also confirmed her victory in a call with The Daily Californian. 

Recognized for her commitment to nonpartisan collaboration and community-driven solutions, Ishii will step into the role as the first mayor in recent memory without prior City Council experience. 

When asked what the first thing Ishii will do to celebrate her victory she said, “we are going to go eat.”
