The Illinois Supreme Court has overturned #JussieSmollett’s conviction related to allegations that he staged a 2019 attack on himself in Chicago and lied to police.

Per fox8nola, Smollett’s appeal argued that a special prosecutor should not have intervened after the Cook County State’s Attorney initially dropped the charges. The actor had been convicted on five counts of disorderly conduct, sentenced to 150 days in jail—serving only six—given 30 months of probation, and ordered to pay over $130,000 in restitution.
