**SOUND ON** On average a fire will double in size in every 45-60 seconds. This is exactly why speed and proficiency of firefighters is so vital to the expectation of being referred to as a professional. The following unedited video of the first 2:30 seconds of an incident yesterday demonstrates the high standards of proficiency and professionalism our community deserves and expects from their Richmond firefighters. Just before 10:30am yesterday members from E64, T64, E66 and E68 were called to the 1400 block of Richmond St in El Cerrito to assist with a residential structure fire. E64 arrived first at scene in approximately 2 minutes after the initial incident dispatch, and had water on the main fire in 1 min. 8 sec.(1:08) after the engine air brake was set. It took just over 3 minutes from time of dispatch until water was being applied to the flames. Our community should be proud of this high standard of service we hold for the members of Local 188. The residence sustained significant heat and smoke damage, but luckily there were no injuries. We are lucky to serve the citizens of Richmond and neighboring communities. richmondfirefighterslocal188
