The Con Edison Athlete of the Week is Hastings’ Caitlin Thomas.

Athletics: On Nov. 16, Thomas won the NYSPHSAA Class C Cross Country state championship in a time of 17:53.8 seconds defeating the second place runner by 17.1 seconds. ... She competes this weekend at Bowdoin Park in Dutchess County at the NYS Federation Championships. ... Thomas won the Section 1 Class C championship in a time of 19:33 on Nov. 9. ... She won the Westchester County Class C championship on Oct. 26 in a time of 17.36.3. As a member of the indoor track team, she finished 10th in the state in the 3,000 meters. ... As a member of the outdoor track team, she won the 2000m Steeplechase at the Loucks Games, took fourth in the event at the NYSPHSAA championships and took fifth in the event at the New Balance Outdoor Championships where she lowered the Westchester County record to a time of 6:48.68 garnering her a first team All-American award. ... Thomas is the school record holder in the 1000m, 1500m, 3000m and the 2000m steeplechase. ... In cross country, she garnered all league (3x), all county (2x), all section (2x), and all state (2x); in indoor track she's garnered all league (3x), all county (2x), all section (2x) and second team all state; in spring track she garnered all league (3x), all county (2x), all section (2x), and second team all state twice. ... Thomas will continue her running career at Georgia Tech next year.

Extracurriculars: Thomas has been a student board member of Project Share which helps organize Midnight Runs, the Thanksgiving Diner for the Homeless, Empty Bowls, AIDSWalk NY, Crossing Borders and more. ... Thomas, in school, sang with the Hastings Chorus and loves to draw. ... She's a swimmer who works in the summer as a lifeguard. ...
