Zero Collisions at UNBC!

We are overjoyed to announce that the ongoing project to make the unbc bird-friendly has reached a groundbreaking achievement: zero bird-window collisions in treated areas!

This remarkable success is a testament to the ability of collective small actions to have large effects. This project is led by jr_birdnerd , a PhD candidate at UNBC, who advocated for treating the glass, and supported by UNBC’s Dr Kathy Lewis, forest pathologist/microbial ecologist, Dr Russ Dawson, avian ecologist and Randall’s advisor, and a team of dedicated volunteers.

In her recent interview, Jeannine shared, “Every effort, every conversation, and every setback has been worth it. Seeing the impact of our work in real-time is a dream come true.” Her dedication has inspired the team and brought awareness to the vital need for bird-safe environments on campus and in her local community.

Jeannine's journey has been filled with challenges, but her passion shines through. “We’ve poured our hearts into this project,” she noted. “It’s not just about the numbers; it’s about saving lives and preserving our natural heritage.”

From mobilizing volunteers to collaborating with local businesses, Jeannine has demonstrated that when we come together for a cause, incredible things can happen.
