The Porsche 911 Dakar, is a limited-edition, high-performance variant of the iconic 992-generation 911. Built to handle off-road conditions inspired by Porsche’s motorsport legacy, it was designed specifically to commemorate the brand’s history in the famed Dakar Rally, particularly the 1984 Paris-Dakar Rally victory in a modified Porsche 953.

What makes the Dakar 911 so special is that it features a 3.0-liter, twin-turbocharged flat-six engine, delivering approximately 473 horsepower, paired with an eight-speed PDK automatic transmission. This engine setup enables a 0-60 mph sprint in about 3.2 seconds - which is absolutely bonkers.

Porsche decided to put money where their mouth was when designing the Dakar, so that included Porsche’s “Rallye” and “Off-Road” drive modes to adapt to varied surfaces like sand, gravel, and rough terrain. “Rallye Mode” biases power to the rear axle, while “Off-Road Mode” maximizes traction on challenging surfaces. Talk about a serious rally beast! This isn’t taking into account the unique suspension setup that increases ground clearance by up to 50 mm over a standard 911 Carrera.

The 911 Dakar represents Porsche’s commitment to motorsport roots, merging the traditional 911 performance with off-road ruggedness. It’s designed not just as a nod to history but also as a testament to Porsche’s ability to innovate within classic models.
