KNIGHTS WRECK NEW TECH: The varsity boys basketball team traveled to Manor New Tech High School this afternoon and defeated the Titans 88-65 for their their seventh win of the season.

The Knights started off strong both offensively and defensively, holding the Titans to seven points in the first quarter while scoring 22. They continued this momentum through the second quarter, nearly doubling their score to 42 while keeping Manor New Tech to 16 points at the half.

In the third quarter, the Titans rallied to score 20 points, but had no answer on defense as McCallum had its most productive quarter, scoring 24 points to extend their lead to 30 points at 66-36. In the fourth quarter, the Titans outscored the Knights 29-22, with 14 of their points coming from free throws, but their efforts weren't enough to seriously threaten the Knight lead.

Junior captain Ethan Plummer said that going forward, they need to work on finishing strong and avoiding late-game mistakes.

"Because we were up 30 points going into the fourth, I think we just kind of dropped our heads down," Plummer said. "We just tried to breeze through the game, but we really can't do that. That negative energy is going to carry into the next game, so we need to do a better job of closing out games."

Plummer led the Knights' scoring game, putting up 31, senior George McCoy added on 24, and seniors George Brode and Luke Dunham scored nine and eight points, respectively.

Plummer said that his high scoring game was thanks to his teammates.

"Them having that confidence in me, that's what gets me going," he said. "That really gives me the confidence to take my shots. My teammates and the coaches wanting me to continue getting looks when I came out hitting my shots, that was huge."
