🆚 ASU and the University of Arizona first faced off in 1899, with ASU (then the “Territorial Normal School”) winning 11-2 and claiming the first “Territorial Cup.”

🔱 The rivalry gained an extra level of intensity after 1958. That year, ASU students, with support from President Grady Gammage, led a successful grassroots campaign to rename the school from Arizona State College to Arizona State University, overcoming significant opposition from state leaders and University of Arizona fans.

🏆 The Territorial Cup has been certified by the ncaa as the “Oldest Rivalry Game Trophy in College Football.”

🏈 ASU’s 70-7 win in 2020 marks their largest victory margin and highest-scoring game in the rivalry. #ForksUp
