While learning today, students had one thing on their minds… עומר חוזר!

Today’s learning was in the merit of Omer Shem Tov (Omer Ben Shelly).

Omer, a vibrant 21-year-old from Herzliya, known affectionately to all as “sunshine“ (ילד של שמש) radiates warmth and light wherever he goes. His passion for music, whether strumming his guitar or mixing as a DJ, has always been a source of joy for others.

But on the morning of October 7, Omer, along with his friends Itay and Maya Regev, were caught in the chaos of the Nova Music Festival .
In a frantic bid for safety, they piled into a car driven by heroic Ori Danino, fleeing the horror.
Omer, desperate to connect with his parents, sent them his live location—his last message of hope. They watched in helpless dread as the car raced toward Gaza.

Yet even in the depths of this nightmare, Omer’s light refuses to dim. Freed in a ceasefire, his friends Itay and Maya tell stories of his unshakable courage. Despite his asthma, Omer never lost hope. He was determined to sanctify every Shabbat in captivity, rationing his meager food supply just so he could make Kiddush.

Omer has now been held in captivity for 354 long harrowing days. Tragically Ori was buried recently and students visited his shiva, after being executed in captivity.

May our prayers shield Omer and protect him, until his sunshine returns home to light up the world once again and chase away this darkness for good.🎗️

עומר, מחכים לך בבית!
