## Caption

Police used Genetic Genealogy to solve a 1988 cold case and determine the killer of an 18-year-old girl after 34 years. Tracy Whitney’s body was found by fisherman in a river near Sumner, Washington on August 28, 1988. But until investigators used genetic genealogy, her killer was unknown.

This is similar to the method investigators used to identify Bryan Kohberger as a suspect in the murder of four University of Iowa students. Kohberger has pleaded not guilty in the onoing case.
