Creating an intimate portrait of wild tigers is no small feat. Over five years of filming, the team used every photographic technique imaginable to reveal the secretive lives of these iconic cats. Traditional long-lens techniques provided the foundation, while new stabilized rigs and remote cameras, some developed specifically for this project, transformed what was possible. Operated remotely from hundreds of meters away, these cameras captured never-before-seen moments of tiger life—tiny cubs at the den, playful cubs in forest pools, and the quiet bond between mother and cubs.

Tracking tigers in the dense forests of India’s National Parks demanded patience, skill, and trust in the expertise of local guides. “Each day was like starting from scratch,” recalls wildlife Director of Photography Martyn Colbeck (martyncolbeck). Relying on pug marks and the instinctive understanding of seasoned trackers like Salim Ali and Digpal Karmawas, they spent hundreds of days in the field, often for mere glimpses of tigers.

One unforgettable moment? Filming a rare hunt where a tiger stalked a formidable sloth bear—a scene that played out in the open, allowing for the full drama to be captured on film. [#TigerTakeover Post 2/6]

#Tiger now streaming on DisneyPlus.

Special thanks to: Salim Ali, Digpal Karmawas (digpalkarmawas), and the incredible trackers and guides who made this film possible.
