Quirky, secluded and possibly unique, a $479,000 house for sale close to Adel is a rare example of a residential property built around a very unusual geodesic dome.

Custom designed in 1981, the central dome is home to the living space, kitchen, and a spiral staircase that leads to an upper level “writer’s nest.”

Viewed from above, the home’s clever design becomes more obvious. One half of the dome leads to a hallway and outdoor deck, while the opposite side connects to a rectangular addition featuring the primary bedroom and doors to its own private patio.
