Aaron Sahlman of Newbury Park just executed one of the greatest  performances in the history of high school cross country, as the NAU commit dropped a new course record time of 14:45.5, thanks to a huge 600m kick. Aaron followed his brother Colin’s footsteps, by becoming the third straight national champion from Newbury Park (Nico Young in 2019 at NXN & Colin Sahlman in 2021 at RunningLane). 

Third straight national champion from Newbury Park to go to NAU 🤯

The 1:48 800m superstar became the 3rd straight individual champion from California, joining Liam Anderson in 2018 and Nico Young in 2019 as mentioned above. 

Sahlman led Newbury Park to back-to-back NXN team titles, as the Panthers tallied an unbelievable 66 points! That’s a new team record at NXN by 11 points, when Loudoun Valley scored 77 points in 2018. 

Daniel Simmons of American Fork went from 13th at the 2 mile to finish in 2nd at 5k, as the junior phenom crossed the line in 14:51.7, a time that would’ve made him the individual champion at every single NXN meet from 2004-2019. 

Tyrone Gorze of Southern Oregon stayed in the lead group the race and held on for a superb 3rd place finish, recording a 14:53.8 effort. 

8 more athletes managed to break 15 minutes!
