Our Space To Play Ep. 1: kensleysimmons is a Junior Student-Athlete and Centerback for Alabama State University. Her love for Soccer and the experience that ASU provides for her on and off of the pitch, is a relationship that was always meant to be. In the Black and Gold of the ASU Hornets, Kensley feels at home. Her teammates come from all over the United States and even across the globe. Soccer is her Safe Space, HBCU Soccer is Our Space to Play.

HBCUs are anchor educational and cultural institutions for Black communities in the United States. However, when it comes to sports and specifically soccer, the coverage, funding, and awareness HBCUs receive is underwhelming. blackstarsoccer_ is here to Celebrate HBCU Soccer Culture and Emphasize the importance of HBCUs, the opportunities created thru HBCU Soccer, and why upcoming athletes should attend HBCUs on and off the field.
