Between 2011-14, if you wanted to run a fast 800/1000/1500/mile, you/your agent/meet director made damn sure he was in the field because he was going to hit the times you wanted to hit and give you enough wiggle room.

When I heard about Matt’s passing from one of his @runnerspace colleagues, I went to find one of my external hard drives, as I remembered an easy run he did with the @brooksbeaststc in January 2014.

As I went through the photos that I shot that day for @tandfn , I kept coming back to these two photos of him running with a female 800, 1500 & 5000m runner, all of whom could probably clean his clock in a distance run around Green Lake.

@oregontf coach Robert Johnson (@run4ducks) said it best: “…he made it his life’s work to advocate and serve the sport of track and field.”
