Tanner got tangled up & fell on the final lap, while Quax became part of a rare group—fathers & sons who have broken 4 minutes in the mile, joining his father Dick, who was an Olympic silver medalist in the 5000 in 1976. Dick’s personal best was 3:56.23, while Theo ran 3:58.13.
