It's been a few days since I heard the news of the passing of @david_torrence. It's also hard for me to believe that this photo would be the last shot I'd have of him, from the first round of the 1500 in London.
.

I had the opportunity to see and call some of his races at the Dempsey while he was at Cal and as a pro.  He was very appreciative of my announcing, as well as my writing and photography.
.

Many of you have eloquently written your thoughts over the last two days. I'll always remember how appreciative he was of the folks who came out to watch him race. I'll also remember his go-for-it racing mentality, and how encouraging he was to his fellow competitors.
.

My condolences go out to his friends, family and fellow competitors.
