A tragic fact: On average, at least one trophy-hunted giraffe is imported into the United States every day. 

These gentle giants are in the midst of a silent extinction: Giraffe populations have plummeted nearly 40% in the last few decades due to poaching, habitat loss, and climate change. 

But there's hope: Just weeks ago, the USFWS finally proposed protecting four #giraffe species under the Endangered Species Act. 

Protections under the Act will curb U.S. imports of giraffe skins and other body parts, reducing pressure on these iconic animals.
