Gisèle Pelicot spoke out after her ex-husband was sentenced to 20 years in prison for drugging her and, over the course of nearly a decade, inviting more than 50 strangers to rape her while she was asleep in their home in France.

Pelicot expressed “profound gratitude towards the people who supported her,” adding that the messages and testimonies from supporters all over the world “moved me deeply and gave me the strength to return every day during these long days of hearings.”
