Some Lincoln County residents recently received a letter from an unknown person calling for community members to “track and report” people of color they believe to be undocumented immigrants, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement on Thursday.

The letters arrived as organizations that work with immigrants and local governments prepare for a federal immigration crackdown after President-elect Donald Trump takes office. On Wednesday, Oregon Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum released an educational toolkit to help immigrants in Oregon learn their rights under the state’s Sanctuary Promise Act.
