GAME RECAP

#7 Cincinnati vs Memphis

———

This past weekend, the Bearcats dominated a talented Memphis Tigers team 49-10. This win, after last season’s back-to-back losses in Memphis, felt extra sweet. The Bearcats got on the board first with an exciting 43 yard touchdown pass thrown by Desmond Ridder to Alec Pierce. Desmond Ridder would have a phenomenal day, throwing 21-26 for 271 yards and 3 touchdowns, along with a pair of rushing touchdowns. Overall the Bearcats’ offense was very smooth, and was great in that second half. Against a top 5 offense in the nation (according to the stats), the Bearcats defense gave up just 10 points, and only 5 rushing yards. If it wasn’t for the 92 yard burst from Tiger Tahj Washington, Memphis would have scored 3 points in total. Just one week prior, the Bearcats D gave up only 13 points to another great offense, in SMU. This defense is unbelievably talented. This game against Memphis was arguably one of the best performances in the Luke Fickell era!

Pros of the game:

Desmond Ridder: as stated, Desmond Ridder had a great day. Ridder continues to look better and better this season, and has made the offense look very fun to watch.

Jerome Ford: Ford had two touchdowns and 116 yards in his best game as a Bearcat so far. He had a couple of great long runs too and has looked promising!

Defense: This defense has NFL talent all through it, and they just make play after play after play. There is electric speed, strength, and skill at each position which makes this one of the best units in the nation. Let’s also not forget that we have one of the best defensive coordinators in the country as well 😎‼️

Cons of the game:

There aren’t many cons to a 49-10 win over a Memphis team that was #26 in the AP Poll, so I was only able to get one.

Injuries: we do not know the severity of the injuries of Alec Pierce and Arquon Bush yet, but they are two very important players that we need on the field. I am not completely sure if/how much time will be missed from these two, but if you know for sure let me know👍.

SWIPE for some of my favorite pictures from the game 😄
