When have you ever seen a movie focus on Black women serving in the military? (Never). That’s why you need to check out The Six Triple Eight, now streaming on Netflix! This film highlights the incredible story of the ALL-BLACK Women’s Army Corps (WAC) unit that served during World War II.

Shoutout to Tyler Perry for telling this much-needed story and shining a light on these trailblazing women. Kerry Washington plays the lead role of Lt. Col. Charity Adams Earley, the highest-ranking Black woman in WWII.

Fun fact: Lt. Col. Earley was a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and the charter member and FIRST chapter president of the Columbia (SC) Alumnae Chapter—my chapter of initiation! I couldn’t be more inspired by her legacy and the courage of these amazing women.
