A one-of-a-kind Frua-bodied beach car with remarkable concours potential, the 1972 Fiat 127 Dinghy is a captivating creation by the legendary Italian coachbuilder Carrozzeria Frua. 

Based on a 1972 Fiat 127 and completed around 1977, this whimsical beach car draws inspiration from Ghia’s iconic Jolly while standing out with Pietro Frua’s unique design. Its fixed metal roof, sculpted pillars, and doorless layout exude playful practicality, inviting passengers to “hop in and go!” Period photographs capture its debut at the 1977 Geneva International Motor Show, dressed in white paint with wooden accents, white wheels, and a quintessentially ‘70s interior.

Discovered in California in 2022, the car was acquired by its current owner, believed to be its third, after spending decades in the sunny, dry climate of Southern California. Despite some minor corrosion typical of 1970s Fiats, the car remains well-preserved, with just over 17,700 kilometers believed to be original. Sporting a vibrant 1980s multicolored paint job and a few modifications like updated seats and a Hurst shifter, the Dinghy runs and drives, making appearances at local car shows. With a straightforward restoration, this delightful one-off Frua creation offers incredible potential as a concours star or a charming summer home shuttle—an extraordinary opportunity to own a rare piece of Italian automotive artistry.
