I always tell bride & grooms to do what is true to them. To make this about THEIR LOVE & nothing else. At times, I will hear about how parents or grandparents throw in their opinion and comments will be made on how this doesn’t feel like their wedding and it feels like someone else’s because they are trying to please others. 

& I just want to remind you — this is YOUR day. No one else’s. Do what you two want. 

When it comes to vows, I always love when couples do their own vows. It’s sentimental and truly is one of my favorite parts of wedding days. This year, I’ve seen a lot of couples do private vows and it’s something I recommend as a wedding photographer because…

• You get a second to just be you two. 
• It’s very intimate and allows for the day to slow down. 
• If you’re someone who hates to be the center of attention, this takes the pressure off of saying your vows in front of the entire wedding. 

But again — this is a recommendation. Do what feels TRUE TO YOU. Talk with your partner about what you two would truly want out of the day.
